Characteristic of the community is its proximity to the Tharandter Forest and the romantic floodplains of the Triebischtäler (valleys). Numerous well-marked paths extend through a varied and charming landscape. They invite one to take a stroll or enjoy an excursion by foot, bike or horse at all times of the year. Geological peculiarities include the porphyry pockets or the old silver quarry "Erzengel Michael" (Archangel Michael) testify to the existence of active volcanoes and silver mining from past centuries.
Beautiful, antique half-timbered buildings, our incense museum, a golf course, an ultra-light flight school not to mention the newly constructed sport facilities (four lane Ninepins Association alley, sports field of the SV WACKER sports club Mohorn, forest pool heated by solar energy) in Grund are a favourite excursion point for locals and visitors alike.
